John Massey is the owner of the world renowned Ashwood’s Nursery and this is a chance to visit his personal and much-admired garden.
John’s Garden is a wonderful eight acre private garden created by nursery owner John Massey VMH. Informal borders, island beds, woodland dells and a wildlife garden are set against the beautiful backdrop of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal. Regarded as one of the finest private small gardens in the UK, it is a ‘plantsman’s garden’ that has an abundance of rare plants as well as many familiar favourites.
Nigel Hopes who will lead the tour, is Ashwoods’ Head Gardener of the last 6 years, and previously Alpine Area Supervisor and Senior External Supervisor at Birmingham Botanical Gardens for 12 years, and a National Collection Holder.
After the tour, Nigel will go on to give a presentation/lecture of the recent projects completed in the garden, and how they were designed and implemented.
Timings:
Tour start: 10.30am
Afternoon presentation/lecture: 2pm
Day ends: 3.30pm
Refreshments/Lunch:
Refreshments are not included however Ashwood’s Restaurant is renowned for its excellent and good value food.
