Description
Heart of BS13 Flowers is a social enterprise, based at Hartcliffe City Farm, a 7-acre site, in the south of Bristol, shared between Heart of BS13 and Windmill City Farm. Heart of BS13 Flowers is a vibrant entity, taking a fresh and commercial approach to flower growing, with enormous progress over the past 3-5 years. They have established a reliably good quality product, and now sell to local florists, provide flowers for weddings, and well as local orders. Volunteer corporate days have proved successful and have widened local business knowledge and appreciation of the social enterprise, as well as helping bring in some income and any profits are ploughed back into supporting the local community served by the Social Enterprise.
Sol, the Head Gardener, will take us on a tour of the site, looking at the range of annual and perennial flowers and foliage grown, in the no dig beds and also in the large polytunnel. Sol will also show us the composting system on site. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions.
The second part of the visit will be with Clem Heart of BS13 Florist. Clem will show us the best flowers to use for simple posies and we will choose cut and prepare one, to take away with us.
