Description
Sarsden Glebe is a beautiful, Georgian house set in parkland in rural Oxfordshire. The large and varied garden is made up of a formal terraced area with borders and yew hedges, a wild garden with snowdrops emerging, and a restored kitchen garden. There are many interesting trees and shrubs and many winter bulbs that will be emerging. Sarsden Glebe has provided training for WRAGs since 2019. Join us for a day in the garden to meet fellow WFGA members, walk among the snowdrops in the wild garden, identify shrubs and trees, and see the kitchen garden getting ready for the spring.
In the course of the day you will learn from the Niwaki experts how to clean and sharpen your secateurs and shears. Sharpening kits and oil will be on sale and make sure you bring your own secateurs to practise on. There will be two sessions, one beginning at 11.00am and the second beginning at 2pm. With your newly sharpened secateurs we will provide practical lessons on pruning shrub roses and climbing roses. We will demonstrate how easy it is to define woodland walks by weaving edges from hazel. And finally we will show you how we made a wormery in an old bath and you will see the worms’ “black gold” which has been harvested over the year to be used this summer on our sweet peas and vegetables. The day will start at 10.00am and end at 3.30pm. Coffee, tea and biscuits will be available but bring your own packed lunch.
The cost of the workshop will be £35 for members and £55 for non-members.
