Description

Shugborough Hall is a National Trust property dating back to 1624 with a Georgian Mansion sweeping parkland and Europe’s widest Yew Tree. On this event you will be Tree planting in a new orchard in the Slips (just outside the walls) of the historic Walled Garden, adjacent to the main Visitor car park. This is a practical training day, you will be assisting in the planting of a new apple orchard of approximately 40 heritage varieties. The trees are standard bare rooted orchard trees on M25 root stock which will need to be planted and staked, which will be followed by a tour of the redevelopment of the walled garden – time and weather permitting.

You will be working under the guidance of Caroline Beacall who is the Head Gardener of the National Trusts Shugborough Hall Walled Gardens and Pleasure Grounds. Caroline has 20-plus years experience working in horticulture for the National Trust at several gardens in the midlands.

The cost of this session is £35 for members and £55 for non-members. Tea/Coffee will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch, warm work clothes, boots and waterproofs
