Description
Jay Ashworth is the Ornamental Gardens Manager at Ashburnham Place. She has a Masters in Horticulture and a wealth of experience, having worked in the gardens for over 10 years. She has a fabulous gardening team, including a number of volunteers and a WRAGS Trainee.
Ashburnham Place is home to a serving community of Christians from many traditions. Set in 220 acres of ancient woodland, ornamental gardens and lakes. The gardens are cared for using sustainable gardening principles and are home to rare wildlife, wildflowers and birds. The gardens include herbaceous borders, woodland, kitchen gardens and a café with a newly renovated Orangery. This practical skills day will cover the winter pruning of climbing and rambling roses. After a tour of the garden, Jay will talk to us about winter pruning of roses and demonstrate some pruning techniques. We will then get to work on the roses!
